About the ABOG Fellowship for Socially Engaged Art
The ABOG Fellowship for Socially Engaged Art is an active, year-long funding relationship for socially engaged artists and artist collectives working nationwide. Fellows receive project support of $20,000 with strategic assistance, assessment tools, video documentation, and other tailored resources. Click here to learn about our eligibility requirements, review selection criteria, and access the online application.
Fellowship Workshops
Prior to the November 20 deadline, ABOG hosts two Fellowship Workshops in NYC which are free and open to the public with RSVP. They are a great opportunity to meet staff, ask questions, learn more about our mission and how we consider applications, see great examples of the type of work we fund, and get practical information about the methods socially engaged artists use. RSVP only-space is limited! Please choose your preferred date to RSVP:
September 29, 2015 – Fellowship Workshop with Laura Chipley
November 2, 2015 – Fellowship Workshop with Dread Scott
Not in New York? Don’t worry! Materials from our 2014 Fellowship Workshops are available online, and we’ll be posting videos from the 2015 workshops, too.

A Blade of Grass nurtures socially engaged art.
We provide resources to artists who demonstrate artistic excellence and serve as innovative conduits for social change. We evaluate the quality of work in this evolving field by fostering an inclusive, practical discourse about the aesthetics, function, ethics and meaning of socially engaged art that resonates within and outside the contemporary art dialogue.
