AAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program
The American Association for the Advancement of Science seeks to increase public understanding of science and technology. Selected Fellows will work for 10 weeks during the summer as reporters, researchers, and production assistants in mass media organizations nationwide. Fellows collaborate with media professionals at radio and television stations, newspaper and magazine. Applicants must be in their senior year or at any graduate level in the fields of the natural, physical, health, computer or social sciences or mathematics. Fellows will receive a weekly stipend of $450 and travel expenses. Deadline: January 15

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs
This nine-month full time graduate-level program offers an opportunity for personal and professional growth for those who want to make a difference in their community, organization or industry and who have an interest in civic affairs. Coro helps develop marketable skills for effective leadership. Evidence of leadership potential and concern for the well being of communities are some of the eligibility criteria. Sixty-four Coro Fellows are selected after a rigorous national selection process. The Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties. Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association

Fulbright Grants
Grants are to give U.S. students the opportunity to live and study in a foreign country for one academic year and to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and the host countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree before the beginning date of the grant and must be U.S. citizens. Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Fannie and John Hertz Foundation
Available to students who will have received a bachelor’s degree in the applied physical sciences by the time they propose to commence tenure of fellowship. High previous scholastic performance is expected, including an A grade average during last two years of undergraduate work. Fellows, who must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, are required to commit themselves fully to making their skills available to common defense in the event of a national emergency. George J. Mitchell Scholarships U.S. Ireland Alliance
For one-year post-graduate study at institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. National Medical Fellowships, Inc.
To assist medical students who are members of minority groups currently under-represented in the medical profession. Session Assistants Program For undergraduate students

Session Assistants will have the opportunity to observe policy development in the New York State Senate. Positions are available January through May. Public Policy & International Fellowship Program
The Program is designed to prepare college juniors or rising seniors from diverse backgrounds for graduate studies in public and/or international affairs and groom them for professional roles in public service. There is an array of opportunities under the Fellowship which span a period of development from the junior year of college to beyond the completion of a graduate degree. Summer programs are being held at Princeton University, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Maryland and Michigan. The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Thirty fellowships of $20,000 for maintenance and half tuition will be awarded annually for study at any graduate or professional school. Applicants must be “New Americans,” which includes Green Card Holders, naturalized citizens and children of parents where both parents are naturalized citizens. Eligible candidates are graduate school students, college seniors or bachelor’s degree recipients between the ages of 20 and 28. Highly competitive. Young People for the American Way
